Pinnacle Design/Build welcomes Will Enger to the team for the 2018 Summer Internship!
Pinnacle Design/Build recently completed a project for a high end residential developer in Houston, TX. Pinnacle was responsible for the engineering and design of the project, and our crews were responsible for the storm water detention pond excavation, GCL pond bottom liner installation, MSE vegetated retaining wall construction, and hardscape installation. Pinnacle Design/Build celebrated 20 years in business with a company family picnic celebration at the Reid Barn in Cumming, GA. Founded in 1997, Pinnacle completed its 20th year in business in January 2017. We would not have made it this far without the hard work and dedication of our employees and their families, our wonderful vendors, and our incredible customers. Here’s to 20 years and to 20 more!
Pinnacle Design/Build welcomes Heidi Gilkenson as the newest member of the Pinnacle team. Heidi takes on the position of Project Coordinator for the pre-construction sales and operations activities. Heidi obtained a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences with an emphasis in Water and Soil Resources from the University of Georgia in 2013, and she brings three years of experience in the environmental field to Pinnacle Design/Build.
Pinnacle Design/Build met with the civil engineering students of Mississippi State University’s AGC (Associated General Contractors of America) Chapter in Starkville, MS. Gavin Henry, Pinnacle Project Manager, toured the students around the Retreat at Starkville Collegiate Housing Project, an active Pinnacle construction project located just off campus in Starkville. The students were able to view Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) segmental block retaining walls under construction. While on site, Joseph E. Harris, PE, President of Pinnacle, provided the students with a technical presentation regarding the design, construction, and components of segmental block retaining walls.
Pinnacle Design/Build met with the Virginia Tech Geotechnical Graduate Students in Blacksburg, VA in May of this year. The students were given a tour around the Retreat at Blacksburg Collegiate Housing Project, a Pinnacle construction project located just off campus. A follow up visit to the university and project site showed that students were still sporting their Pinnacle gear. It’s good to see that these students are fans of Pinnacle Design/Build!
Pinnacle Design/Build has partnered with the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) program at Vickery Creek Middle School in Cumming, GA. The elective program was developed in order to give students an opportunity to learn more about different scientific fields such as computer coding and engineering. Because the program is in its infancy, the school needed to add more computers to the rotation of classes. Pinnacle Design/Build was honored to help with this mission by donating computers to the program.
Pinnacle Design/Build had the opportunity to partner with a group of contractors and engineers to help construct a new facility for Extra Special People. We were honored to be a part of this organization’s dream build, and we can’t wait to see all the good they will do for the Athens community and the families they serve. Pinnacle Design/Build welcomes Matthew Lamb as its 2016 Summer Intern. Matthew is a Civil Engineering student at the University of Georgia and will graduate in May of 2017. Matthew will be doing everything from project estimating, take offs, and coordination to site inspections and construction. Pinnacle Design/Build selects interns each year, and we are excited that Matthew chose us for his first internship experience.
A major energy infrastructures company needed a permanent bridge constructed over an existing stream crossing to gain access to an existing LNG Gate Station. Pinnacle Design/Build was chosen to install the heavy duty Big R Modular Bridge from AIL Mining, and completed the installation in just one day. Read more about the project by going to
At Pinnacle Design/Build, we are always trying to find new talent. What better way to do that than to start talking with kids about Civil Engineering? Joseph Harris, President of Pinnacle Design/Build, spoke with eighth grade students for Pinecrest Academy’s Annual Career Day. He was among many speakers that offered various presentations across various fields, and even though the common consensus was that professional athletes should present for next year’s Career Day, it’s always nice to get kids interested in the world’s infrastructure.
Ethan Gale serves as a Design Engineer/Project Manager for Pinnacle Design/Build. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering Physics and Applied Mathematics from the Augustana College. Mr. Gale spent the summer of 2015 with Pinnacle Design Build as a Design Engineer Intern and is the newest hire to the PDBGI team. He is currently an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) in the State of Wisconsin.

Pinnacle Design/Build was awarded the opportunity to construct a large retaining wall for Landmark Construction at their new collegiate housing development in Athens, GA. Flagpole, a local website, asked Athens dwellers to create their best memes. The results are in.
Pinnacle Design/Build sponsored and volunteered at the Lighthouse Family Retreat for the third consecutive year. Pinnacle Design/Build recently completed another retaining wall project with Landmark Development and Collegiate Construction of Athens, GA at the The Retreat at Newark project near the University of Delaware campus in Newark, DE. The project added a cottage style student housing community to the area surrounding the campus, and Pinnacle Design/Build was responsible for designing and constructing the segmental block retaining walls around the development. Pinnacle’s portion of construction was completed in May of 2014, and the Retreat at Newark began leasing to students in January of 2015.
Pinnacle Design/Build played a crucial role in the construction of the North Grounds Connector for the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. The Connector linked a major roadway to the main entrance for UVA’s John Paul Jones Arena and the North Grounds of the University. Pinnacle Design/Build retaining wall construction group collaborated with multiple teams to accelerate the project’s completion and helped to open the connector five months ahead of schedule. Pinnacle Design/Build recently completed another retaining wall project with Landmark Development and Collegiate Construction of Athens, GA at the Retreat at Oak Creek project near the Oregon State University campus in Corvallis, OR. The project added a 33 acre cottage style student housing community to the current inventory of collegiate housing in Corvallis. Pinnacle Design/Build was responsible for designing and constructing 10,000 sf of segmental block and cast-in-place retaining walls to support the development. Pinnacle’s portion of the project was completed in May of 2015. Pinnacle Design/Build continues to provide our innovative solutions over larger geographical territory. Since, 1997, Pinnacle Design/Build has constructed projects throughout the United States.
