Lake Fork Water Pump Station,
Alba, TX
PROJECT
FACTS:
Wall
Area
= 6,000 SF;
Max Ht
= 33 FT
CHALLENGE:
The new Lake Fork Pump Station under construction for the
City of Dallas required retaining walls at the water intake
structure. When in service, the bottom 2/3 of these walls
would be submerged and subject to water level fluctuation as
well as wave action.
SOLUTION:
Pinnacle Design/Build designed and constructed a large block
MSE retaining wall as a value engineering alternative to
massive cast-in-place concrete retaining walls.
VALUE:
The engineered solution yielded a 30% to 40% cost savings
over the original cast-in-place concrete design while
providing the structural stability required and improving
the aesthetic appeal.

Beech Creek Water Improvements,
Franklin, TN
PROJECT
FACTS:
Wall Area
= 10,500 SF;
Max Ht
= 29 FT
CHALLENGE:
The Mallory Valley Utility District in Williamson County,
Tennessee required two new five million gallon water tanks
as part of a large public water supply improvement project.
To meet elevation requirements, the tanks were to be
situated near the top of a steep hillside. However, a
stable and level foundation was necessary to support the
heavily loaded tanks.
SOLUTION:
Pinnacle Design/Build designed and constructed two
mechanically stabilized earth segmental retaining walls to
safely carry the anticipated loading associated with the
tanks.
VALUE:
The Pinnacle Design/Build solution provided a quick and cost
effective solution to develop the foundation area required
for the new water tanks and allowed the project to
continue on schedule.
