Trimble County Generating Station - Fly Ash Pond Expansion
BEDFORD, KENTUCKY

CHALLENGE
Expansion of this coal burning power plant required increased area for storage/decanting of ash by-products. The adjacent wetlands along the Ohio River had to be protected and limited the space available for expansion.

SOLUTION
The project’s engineer decided to increase the capacity of the facility’s existing wet ash storage pond by raising the height of the surrounding dike. Stone faced, mechanically stabilized earth walls were designed to safely accomplish the vertical expansion and provide the required storage volume.

VALUE
Pinnacle Design/Build’s experienced construction crews and design professionals delivered the solution to the owner on time and on budget.
