CHALLENGE
A new $1.2 billion data center complex located in Caldwell County, NC required nearly 100 acres of relatively flat space to accommodate several buildings and associated parking. The project, located in the hilly region of western North Carolina was on a fast track and the retaining walls were on the critical path of the project schedule.

SOLUTION
Pinnacle Design/Build engineered and constructed four extensive retaining walls to establish the support of the proposed building, parking areas and the linking access roads.

VALUE
The “green” retaining walls were able to be built quickly, keeping pace with the expedited earth moving operation. The vegetation on the retaining wall faces blended with the site’s natural surroundings. This allowed the new infrastructure to be less intrusive on the landscape as opposed to that of conventional concrete retaining walls.
